CO2 Laser Procedures

The CO2 laser cuts through and removes tissue with a highly focused infrared beam. The rapid absorption of the laser energy instantaneously ablates the soft tissue target area and at the same time seals capillaries, small blood vessels, lymphatic vessels, and nerve endings. The size and power of the laser beam may be adjusted for the doctor’s needs, allowing it to be used for incisions, excision of tissue, and ablation.

Benefits of the CO2 Laser

REDUCED PAIN

The CO2 laser seals nerve endings as it cuts through tissue. This reduces the amount of pain the patients feels during and after laser procedures.

REDUCED BLEEDING

The CO2 laser cauterizes and seals small blood vessels as it cuts and reduces the amount of bleeding that occurs during a procedure.

REDUCED SWELLING

There is no physical contact between the laser and the skin, eliminating the tearing and bruising of the tissue that is caused by the use of a traditional scalpel blade.

REDUCED RISK OF INFECTION

Laser energy acts as an antibacterial agent by producing high temperatures, effectively eliminating microorganisms.

QUICKER RECOVERY TIME

As a result of all the above, laser surgery provides your pet the benefit of reduced recovery time.
